Kumbia Net is an international collective of cumbia music producers, deejays, and visual artists. Through the exchange of sample packs via WhatsApp and soundcloud, a divergent group of producers from Mexico and the U.S. began a dialogue with the objective of creating sample based cumbia tracks heavily inspired by the tradition of Mexican sound system culture. With one foot in the sound system scene and the other in a motley pool of vaporware, trap, and experimental electronic sounds, the unifying threads in this collective proved to be a love of dark style cumbia and the internet. To this day, the Kumbia Net Collective have seen each other in person on only 2 occasions. This film documents those inspiring encounters in Mexico and follows these artists to their home cities, from Puebla to San Luis Potosi, from Merida to Queretaro, and L.A. to the Bay.
